Initially, I was going to save this around the house blog for Christmas time…but I couldn’t wait! I dug out some Christmas Ornament hooks which we definitely had extra of, since they only come in packs of 500, and found a great use on a birthday card for my brother-in-law. He loves to fish, so when I sat down to make his card I knew I wanted to incorporate fishing.

A big part of fishing, is the line and hook; this is where the ornament hook comes in. I straightened out the hook and then bent it to look more like a fishing hook. I attached some colorful ribbon to make it look more like a fly-fishing hook.Then I used a real fishing weights, a bobber cut paper and tied with fishing line.

The idea of ​​the card is looking like a vest pocket fisherman, full of fishing goodies! I used a basic alphabet used to eradicate the feeling Here's a tip:. If you are using a wood mounted stamp alphabet, try rubber bands all the letters to keep them straight when you stamp!

I know, all the shops around here are filling their stores with Christmas items. (And in Holland we have another party before Christmas!)

Fun ideas! I like to upcycle glass jars and scraps of yarn for tealight lanterns (like my icon).

My daughter saves up old magazines and books people want to throw out to make collages, lino prints, to make shelves of and to decoupage with.
