Dragracer Bissessar urges road safety

SHELDON Bissessar the top of Trinidad and Tobago race car driver with more than 27 years of experience, is to promote road safety through its sponsorship contract with Methanex Trinidad Limited.
With three world records and a number of victories around the world, the exploits of Bissessar saw him earn the distinction of "Sports Personality of the Year" by Motorsport Association of Trinidad and Tobago in 2010.
"I always had a passion for racing and I started sliding on the racing track Wallerfield old," he said. "At the time, I was a quarter mile in 17 seconds and I thought it was fast. "
"Today, I hold the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) Top Dragster world record quarter-mile in 5.68 seconds at Palm Beach International Raceway in Florida. It was a difficult journey, but it just goes to show that as long as you put your mind to it, you can achieve anything."
Other people who attended Bissessar in his quest for glory is the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Total Lubricants, VP Racing Fuels and Performance Technology Services Limited (Pst).

"
Percy showed that Methanex Methanol Holdings Trinidad Limited and (Trinidad) Limited is spearheading a study of methanol fuel mixture to test the technical feasibility of adding small percentages of methanol to gasoline and to determine economic benefits to Trinidad and Tobago in the country helping to reduce cost of providing a gas subsidy.
Methanex has also worked with local non-governmental organization, Arrive Alive! to promote the United Nations Decade of Action for the road safety campaign, using Bissessar as ambassador for responsible driving practices.
